Curriculum Enrichment at SPCDC

Integrated, Emergent Curriculum

Language arts, Literacy awareness, Mathematical reasoning using sensory perceptions (patterns, spatial awareness, unit block construction, measuring, comparisons, etc.) Hands-on Science, Creative Arts, Spanish, Dance/Movement are all components of our emergent, experiential curriculum

Our Spanish lessons are provided by sponge. Classes are taught completely in Spanish by native-speaking teachers. The children engage in developmentally appropriate games and activities and learn through music, movement, drama, and art.

Creative Movement (included in tuition)

Kechelle Jackson, our creative dance instructor, has been working with young children for about six years. She was a classroom teacher for Hutch Kids Child Care Center from 2008-2013, where she also shared Creative Movement with their preschool classes. Graduating in 2011 with an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Development from North Seattle Community College, Kechelle is currently working towards her BA In Early Childhood Development & Business Administration. Kechelle attended the Creative Dance Center's Summer Dance Institute for teachers in 2012. She has trained and worked along side Anne Green Gilbert for the last year. She also has been teaching classes at Hutch Kids and the greater Seattle area.

Pre-schooler's Swim Program (additional fees apply)

Our PreK class participates in a swim program during the school year (September through May). The class travels off-site to Meadowbrook Pool, adjacent to the Meadowbrook Community Center. The PreK class takes fall, winter, and spring weekly swim classes at the Meadowbrook Pool.
